Smith captured the NEC shot put crown indoors, and is the favorite to strike gold at the 2014 NEC Outdoor Championships in May. Extending her lead over the NEC, Smith put the shot 14.98 (49’ 1.75”) to take third at Princeton’s Sam Howell Invitational. The veteran thrower’s mark, which currently ranks 24th in the NCAA East Region, is an outdoor personal best and stands as the second-farthest outdoor throw in SHU program history.
