LAST WEEK: 5 Starts, .389 BA (7-for-18), 2B, 3B, 6 RBI, 2 runs
Klebart broke out of a 1-for-11 mini slump by driving in six runs in five games last week. Helping the Pioneers to a four-win week, the first-year Pioneer batted .389 (7-for-18) with two extra-base hits, two runs and six RBI. The utility man, who made five starts as a corner infielder, struck out only once in 18 official at-bats. He connected on a bases-clearing triple that gave Sacred Heart a 6-4 lead in an eventual mid-week loss to Atlantic 10 member Rhode Island. Then, he clobbered Cornell pitching while helping SHU to a four-game sweep of the Big Red, who had won their first three series of the season. His RBI double opened the scoring in Game 1 of the series and gave Kody Kerski the only support he would need in an eventual 3-0 shutout. Klebart also plated the first two runs in Game 2, smacking a two-out single in the opening inning of the 5-3 victory. He singled and score as part of SHU’s 6-run fourth inning in Game 3, which ended in a 7-2 triumph for the Pioneers.
