LAST WEEK: 4 games, .429 BA (6-for-14), 3 XBH, 8 RBI, 7 runs
Despite the cold temperatures blanketing the region this month, McClure wielded a hot bat during FDU’s 3-1 week. He recorded at least one hit in all four games and drove in eight runs over the team’s three victories. The 6-foot, 210-pounder also scored seven runs as the Knights topped NJIT and took two from Lehigh. McClure, who missed the 2013 season due to an injury after a promising rookie campaign, batted .429 (6-for-14) and reached base at a .529 clip over the four-game stretch. He belted a pinch-hit double off the wall in the eighth inning of a setback at St. John’s before starting the next three games at first base. After staking FDU to a first inning lead with a three-run bomb, he finished 2-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored in an 11-8 win over NJIT. McClure reached base three times (one hit, two HBP) and came around to score a pair of runs in a 12-4 win over Lehigh on Saturday. In a 9-1 win over the Mountain Hawks the following day, the big bopper went 2-for-4 with a double, HBP, two runs and three RBI.
