LAST WEEK: 5 Starts, .350 BA (7-for-20), 3 XBH, 5 runs, 4 RBI
Sacred Heart played five games against high-quality competition down in Louisiana last week, and Sullivan reached base safely in all five contests. The right-fielder batted .350 (7-for-20) with two walks, five runs and four RBI over a span that included games at Tulane, LSU and SE Louisiana. Three of his seven hits went for extra bases, including a pair of dingers. The second-year Pioneer blasted a solo shot in the first inning to give Sacred Heart a short-lived 1-0 lead at LSU. He also went deep against SELA, blasting a two-run bomb in the ninth inning in the middle game of a three-game series. Sullivan’s most-productive day at the plate came in last Monday’s 6-4 win over perennial Conference USA power Tulane. Helping the Pioneers take the rubber match from the Green Wave, the sophomore reached base three times and scored a pair of runs. His RBI double, which highlighted a 2-for-4 performance, staked SHU to a 1-0 first-inning lead. Sullivan’s week ended with an 0-fer in a 2-1 setback to Southeastern Louisiana, but he managed to extend his on-base streak to seven straight games by drawing a base on balls in his first plate appearance.
