Tihomirova collects her second NEC Player and Rookie of the Month accolade of the 2013-14 season after posting a 4-2 mark at #1 singles over the first month of the spring campaign for the Knights. She began with a three-set win over NJIT’s Kesenia Kuzmenko (1-6, 6-4, 10-7), and followed with a straight set victory over veteran Vanessa Petrini (6-3, 6-4) of Rutgers. Tihomirova then proceeded to knock off first team All-Patriot League player Jenai Bilimoria (6-4, 6-3) in FDU’s 7-0 win over Lehigh and rallied to beat A10 first teamer Alicia Doms (1-6, 7-5, 6-3) as the Knights downed Temple, 4-3. Even in defeat, the Riga, Latvia native’s two setbacks came in three sets to Army’s Janila Paul, a Patriot League first team all-star, and Cornell’s Dena Tanenbaum.
