Ortiz, the two-time NEC Defensive Player of the Year, was a game-changer on the defensive end of the court and gave the Seahawks a second half offensive boost in a key 74-69 win over fellow NEC contender Bryant on Sunday. Ortiz finished with a career-high seven steals, the most by an NEC player this season and the highest total by a Seahawk since Dedrick Dye’s school record eight vs. Robert Morris on February 3, 2001. He also amassed team-highs with 18 points, six rebounds and three assists to help Wagner extend its win streak to three games. Ortiz, who hails from Newark, NJ, scored 12 points and recorded five steals in the second half.
