Nwajei continued her role in Wagner’s resurgence and reclaimed the Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week award, capturing the weekly honor for the third time in 2014. After her 27-point performance allowed the Seahawks to surpass last season’s overall win total on January 27, the freshman point guard posted two more 20-plus point efforts last week. Nwajei averaged 21.5 points, 5.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per contest as the Seahawks welcomed the NEC’s Keystone State contingent to Grymes Hill. The leading rookie scorer in the NEC poured in 21 points in 28 minutes of floor time during a 92-78 setback to Saint Francis U on Saturday. Two days later, Nwajei and the Seahawks stunned first-place Robert Morris. Behind a game-high 22 points from their rookie scoring sensation, Wagner snapped RMU’s seven-game win streak. Nwajei, who is averaging 16.1 points per game on the season, has hit the 20-point mark seven times in NEC play.
