Worthem’s second Choice Hotels/NEC Rookie of the Week award comes after a 2-0 week for the Colonials that saw the freshman forward average 16.5 ppg and 3.5 rpg. He shot 62.5 percent from the floor and 91.7 percent from the line for the RMU, the only unbeaten team remaining in NEC play with a 4-0 mark. His three-pointer with 3:07 remaining sliced the lead to four and his two free throws with five seconds to go iced the win. Two days later, he established a new career-high with 21 points on 7-11 shooting from the field and a perfect 6-6 from the line in a 77-69 victory at Mount St. Mary’s. He hit all five of his field goal attempts in the second half and finished with 15 points after intermission. With the Colonials trailing by three with nine minutes on the clock, Worthem scored seven straight points and nine of the next 11 for RMU, which took a lead it did not relinquish. The Philly native ranks third among NEC freshman with 8.9 ppg on the year, and also averages 4.1 rpg. In league play, he has contributed 12.0 ppg and 4.3 rpg.
