Ferguson’s ability and versatility have been on full display during the opening weeks of his sophomore season. The second-year Pioneer has run exactly three races this season and leads the conference in all three long distance events: the Mile, the 3000 meters, and the 5000 meters. Most recently, he romped to victory in the mile at the 32nd annual Yale Intercollegiate Track Classic. His winning time (4:17.85) makes him the NEC event leader by more than 4.0 seconds. In his final competition prior to Christmas, Ferguson set the SHU program record for the 5,000-meter run. He crossed the line in 14:38.58 to take second place at the Jay Carisella Invitational on December 14. The time was well under the qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships.
