It was a banner week for Spanou. On her way to becoming the all-time leading rebounder in Northeast Conference history, the Greek-born forward averaged 20.0 points, 19.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists over a pair of victories that lifted the NEC preseason favorite Colonials (3-1) into a four-way tie for first place in the league standings. Spanou shot 58.6 percent from the floor while extending her streak of double-doubles to 22 consecutive Northeast Conference contests. In Robert Morris NEC home opener, the 6-foot Spanou poured in 26 points, on 11-of-17 shooting, and pulled down 19 rebounds to power her team past Bryant. Two days later, she victimized Fairleigh Dickinson for 14 points, 20 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in a 66-51 win. Her final rebound of the night moved her past former WNBA Draft pick Jess Zinobile (1,295) for first place on the NEC’s career rebounding list.
