Castrogivanni won the 2013 NEC Indoor MVP award, and the veteran Pioneer appears interested in another one. Castrogivanni opened the 2013-14 campaign by running to victory in the 5000m race at the Yale University Season Opener. More than 24 seconds better than the second-place finisher, Castrogivanni crossed the line in 17:04.72. The time is nearly 30 seconds better than the ECAC Championship qualifying mark. Only four NCAA Division I runners posted a faster opening-week 5K time.
