Wing lifted St. Francis Brooklyn to the Virginia Union University Invitational team title, posting a team-best 19.79 frame average over the course of the three-day event. The rookie bowler was sensational during the baker play portion of the tournament. Wing, who spearheaded St. Francis’ winning efforts against Sacred Heart and Bowie State in best-of-7 matches championship bracket matches, averaged 20.78 pins per baker frame bowled during the weekend. The first-year Terrier filled 64 of 72 baker frames and clinched the team title by throwing a 10th-frame turkey in a Game 5 win over Bowie in the championship final. Wing produced the tournament’s fourth-highest traditional game average on Saturday. A model of consistency as the Terrier won three of four traditional team matches, Wing averaged 183.6 for the day. She opened with back-to-back 181-pin performances in wins over Virginia State and tournament host Virginia Union. The Terriers pulled out a one-pin decision over North Carolina Central when Wing came through with a spare and 9 count in the final frame of what was an 879-878 triumph. Wing’s traditional game weekend high was the 201 she rolled against NEC rival Sacred Heart. For the tournament, the freshman threw a team-high 61 strikes in 147 attempts (.415) and filled 106 of 122 frames bowled (.869).
