Hill has shown consistent ability to effectively stop the run and defend the pass throughout the season, and the veteran safety did just that during Sacred Heart’s title-clinching road win over Robert Morris. Hill totaled 9 tackles, 1.0 sack and a key forced fumble during the 42-25 victory that gave the Pioneers their first Northeast Conference crown since 2001. Hill made 6 stops against the run, holding the ball carrier to no more than 3 yards on four separate occasions. He made tackles on back-to-back plays in the second quarter, dropping ball carrier Ryan Thermil for a 2-yard loss before stopping Phil Peckich at the line of scrimmage. Later in the period, his strip sack of RMU quarterback Paul Jones jarred the ball loose and Connor Caveney recovered at the Colonials’ 19-yard line. SHU’s RJ Noel threw a 19-yard scoring strike on the next play to give the Pioneers a 14-0 advantage.
