Facing trying circumstances, Vizenfeld and the Knights performed at a high level during this past weekend’s NEC meet. With Vizenfeld’s meet-best average leading the effort, Fairleigh Dickinson posted a 6-3 record while accounting for the highest total pinfall of all seven NEC teams. FDU’s anchor bowler averaged 21.38 pins per frame over the course of 68 frames bowled against her conference foes. Her 217.2 game average over six traditional team matches was the best amongst all bowlers on hand. Vizenfeld, who filled 61 of 68 frames, battled more than just stiff competition during the season’s first weekend of Northeast Conference play. In addition to facing a NEC field comprised only of national Top 20 teams, Vizenfeld and her mates were forced to battle a case of the flu bug. Despite being ill during Sunday morning warm-ups, Vizenfeld willed her way into the Knights’ lineup and rolled a 214 game in a 1,039-846 win over meet host Kutztown to close out traditional team play. Vizenfeld started FDU’s quint-baker match against Adelphi in the anchor spot, leading the Knights to another victory before finally succumbing to illness.
