Brickman did what he does best and then some on Saturday in leading three-time defending NEC champion LIU Brooklyn to an 87-80 win over Saint Peter’s at Barclays Center. Brickman sliced and diced the Peacocks with precision passing and registered some timely buckets en-route to a virtuoso 13-point, 14-assist, six-rebound, three-steal performance. With the Blackbirds trailing by two with just over three minutes to play, the San Antonio native sparked an 11-0 run by assisting on three-of-four buckets, highlighted by a dish to Landon Atterberry in transition to cap the spurt and give the Blackbirds an 81-72 lead with 49 seconds to play. The 14 assists were two shy of his career-high of 16, set against Quinnipiac on February 18, 2012. Brickman, a preseason All-NEC honoree who led the nation with 8.5 apg a year ago, lifted his career assist total to 733, just 72 shy from establishing a new NEC record.
