Linares spent most of his time as part of a defense that limited Wagner to 186 passing yards, but the cornerback made his most-impactful play of the Week 10 road win on special teams. Linares, who blocked a pair of extra points last season, slowed Wagner kicker David Lopez’s pursuit of the NEC’s all-time record for field goals made. With Lopez lining up for a 48-yard field goal attempt in the final minute of the first half, Linares came off the edge and blocked the kick. The loose ball was picked up by senior Antwione Reese and returned 32 yards into Wagner territory with 00:27 remaining. CCSU turned the prime field position into a Steve Calitri field goal into the locker room.
