After his first punt was partially-blocked and traveled only 14 yards, Fleck stepped up his performance in the annual Steel City Showdown game. The Duquesne punter dropped three of his next six kicks inside of Robert Morris’ 20-yard line. Two of those punts put the Duquesne defense in prime position to force a pair of third-quarter safeties. After the Dukes’ opening drive of the second half stalled, Fleck booted a 51-yard kick that landed at the RMU 9-yard line. Four plays later, the Dukes forced a safety. He pinned his next punt, a 33-yarder, down at the RMU 3. Backed up in their own end, the Colonials fumbled on the next play from scrimmage and it was recovered in the end zone for another safety. Fleck’s second attempt of the game went for 39 yards and was down at the RMU 16.
