Spence nearly had his second straight 200-yard rushing performance, but Sacred Heart’s burly running back had to settle for 180 yards and a victory. Spence, who ran for 211 yards in a Week 7 win over Central Connecticut, rushed 28 times for 180 yards and one touchdown in Sacred Heart’s 56-28 road win over NEC rival Bryant. Helping the Pioneers move to 4-0 on the road, he averaged 6.4 yards per carry. He also made one reception for six yards, finishing with 186 yards from scrimmage. Spence set up the game’s first touchdown, a short pass from RJ Noel to Tyler Dube, with a 43-yard burst that brought the ball down to Bryant’s 5-yard line. Spence’s 1-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter was icing on the cake for the bruising back.
