Spence produced the first 200-yard rushing performance in Northeast Conference play this season. The burly back carried 23 times for 211 yards as part of Sacred Heart’s 522-yard effort against Nutmeg State rival Central Connecticut. Averaging 9.2 yards per carry, Spence ran for five first downs and two touchdowns. The third-year Pioneer broke off scoring runs of 29 and 27 yards to quell Central Connecticut’s attempt at a second-half comeback. Through Week 7, Spence ranks second on the NEC leader board in both rush yards (823) and yards per carry (6.4).
