Holmes gave the CCSU Homecoming crowd quite a bit to cheer about in Saturday’s 38-29 victory over Saint Francis. Accounting for the second-highest single-game total by a NEC receiver this season, Holmes made five catches for 153 yards and one touchdown. Averaging 30.6 yards per reception, Holmes saw all five of his catches go for either a first down or a touchdown. The 6-foot-2 receiver extended CCSU’s lead to 21-3 when he hauled in a pass from Nick San Giacomo and went 66 yards for a touchdown with 4:06 left in the first half. Twice in the second half, Holmes made key grabs on 3rd-down plays to move the chains. His 18-yard reception on the first play of the fourth quarter converted a 3rd-and-5 and set CCSU up at the SFU 8-yard line. Bryant’s Jordan Harris, an All-American and the active career leading receiver in Division I FCS, is only other NEC player with a higher single-game total than Holmes this fall.
