DelaCruz’s power surge helped keep Central Connecticut’s postseason hopes alive. The right-handed hitting outfielder slugged 1.316 and went 10-for-19 (.526) at the plate as the Blue Devils posted a much-needed series victory over Quinnipiac. With seven of his 10 hits going for extra bases (3 2B, 4 HR), DelaCruz racked up 13 RBI and came around to score seven runs over the four-game sample. The Constitution State product was "locked in" at the plate from the start of the four-game series that featured a pair of Connecticut-based rivals. DelaCruz yanked a double down the right-field line in his first at-bat in Game 1. Providing plenty of power from the leadoff position in CCSU’s lineup, the junior connected on four extra-base hits and drove in six runs to spark the offensive eruption in the Blue Devils’ 17-4 series-opening win. Helping CCSU bounce back from a Game 2 setback, DelaCruz opened the third game of the series by blasting a home run over the centerfield fence and added another solo blast in the sixth inning of the eventual 8-2 triumph. Quinnipiac managed to keep DelaCruz at bay for the first eight frames of the series finale, but Central’s leadoff hitter eventually exploded and helped his team erase a 10-3 deficit in the ninth inning. With CCSU trailing, 10-8, and down to its final two outs, DelaCruz stepped to the plate with the bags juiced and blasted the go-ahead grand slam. After Quinnipiac scored two in its half of the ninth to force extra innings, DelaCruz delivered again. His 10th-inning sac fly allowed CCSU to escape Hamden with a 13-12 Game 4 win and a series victory.
