The NEC Indoor high jump champion has ascended to the top of the conference’s outdoor leader board. Lewis, who cleared 2.07m to win his first-ever conference crown back in February, recorded his best collegiate effort yet as he contested the Morgan State Legacy Meet. The Jamaican-born Lewis leapt 2.08m to out-class his competition at Morgan State. The new height gives him a six-centimeter advantage over the second-place occupant on the NEC performance list. Lewis will have to raise his mark even higher if he has hopes of matching the NEC Championship meet record (2.18m) come May, but he already owns the best jump in LIU Brooklyn history. His performance at Morgan State allowed him to break a LIU high jump mark that stood for over one-quarter century.
