Ziznewski was as responsible as any Blackbird for LIU Brooklyn’s four-win showing last week. The junior shortstop reached base safely in all five of the team’s contests and was responsible for seven RBI during LIU’s four-game weekend set at NEC rival Fairleigh Dickinson. For the week, which began with a victory over Big East member Villanova, Ziznewski went 7-for-17 (.412) at the plate with one double, two homers, five walks, seven runs scored and seven runs batted in. He reached base three times (2 hits, 1 BB) and scored two runs during the Blackbirds’ 5-3 mid-week road win over Villanova. The Rockland CC transfer was just warming up when he logged two hits, two walks, one run and two RBI as LIU swept Saturday’s doubleheader at FDU. Ziznewski went on to homer in both halves of Sunday’s double dip, driving in a total of five runs. Using a solo blast in the fourth frame followed by a RBI groundout in the seventh, he drove home two of the team’s three runs in Game 3. Ziznewski came through in the clutch during the series finale. He went 2-for-3 with two walks, three runs and three RBI in the 11-9 victory that sealed the series win for LIU. His two-run blast in the eighth inning broke a 9-9 tie.
