The defending NEC high jump champion opened her sophomore outdoor campaign by leaping to another victory. Saunders cleared 1.72m (5’ 7.75”) to finish atop the field at the Monmouth Season Opener. The height immediately catapulted Saunders into first place on the league leader board, while qualifying the two-time NEC champ for the ECAC Championships. The mark would have been good enough for second place at the 2012 NEC Outdoor Championships where Saunders took gold and set the meet record with a 1.75m (5’ 8.75”) bound.
