Wlasuk is 2-for-2 when it comes to winning first place in discus competitions this spring. Improving upon his season-opening mark, the first-year Pioneer threw the implement 49.53m (162’ 6”) to strike gold at Army’s Dick Shea Open this past weekend. Wlasuk’s latest performance leads the NEC and stands more than 2.0 meters better than the qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships. His early season results also suggest the freshman thrower will contend for the NEC title in the hammer throw. On March 23, Wlasuk threw the hammer 53.10m (174’ 2”) while competing at the Richard Stockton Invitational. That mark still ranks the rookie second overall amongst NEC hammer throwers this season.
