Brown was a near-impossible out last week, bashing opposing pitching as the Bulldogs won a mid-week game against Boston College before sweeping a four-game weekend series at Fairleigh Dickinson. The senior outfielder safely reached base four out of every five plate appearances last week. His offensive outburst contained plenty of power and run production as well. In addition to posting an .800 on-base percentage, Brown slugged 1.583 during the five-game sample. He drove in 14 runs and scored 11 times. Brown batted .667 (8-for-12) with three home runs, a triple, a double, 11 walks and seven stolen bases as Bryant ran its win streak to nine games in a row. The former NEC Rookie of the Year (2010) began the barrage in the first inning of a 13-2 thumping of ACC member BC. He opened the game’s scoring with a RBI single before adding a solo homer and a two-run triple. Brown started the four-game set at FDU by reaching base in 11 consecutive plate appearances, going 4-for-4 and drawing seven walks. He went deep in the series’ first two games. Brown drove in a career-high five runs and stole three bases during Bryant’s 8-4 Game 2 victory. At one point during the week, Brown had reached base safely in 16-straight plate appearances, two shy of NCAA record.
