The Red Flash continued their run on NEC Rookie of the Week awards with Howe returning to the post for the third time this season. Her selection marks the seventh week during which a Saint Francis freshman has earned the honor. The rookie right-hander was a standout for Saint Francis at Vanderbilt’s Music City Classic, a tournament that welcomed 17 of the 20 teams who are ranked in the latest edition of the NTCA Top 20 Coaches’ Poll. Howe averaged a team-high 20.34 pins per frame over the course of 15 matches bowled at three-day event in Nashville. She threw a SFU-best 67 strikes in 149 chances on her way to posting an .881 filled frames percentage. Howe was 1-for-8 on split conversions, but made 86.2 percent of her non-split spare attempts. The Red Flash experienced their best showing of the tournament during Saturday’s traditional round. Helping the Flash to a 4-2 record in team matches, Howe compiled a SFU-high 211.6 game average. The lone sub-200 game she threw was a 193-pin performance in a setback to No. 5 Vanderbilt.
