Kutztown earned a spot in the USBC National Championship field for the third time in three seasons, and a third-year Golden Bear had much to do with the achievement. Bower spearheaded the team’s third-place finish at the USBC Sectionals by taking down 20.2 pins per frame over the course of the entire competition. In five matches against NCAA member teams, Bower accounted for a 20.95 frame average. Filling 34 of 38 (.895) frames bowled in those contests, she helped the Golden Bears post two baker victories over defending NEC champion Sacred Heart along with single wins over Ursuline and No. 10 Saint Francis U. Three of the open frames she left came on splits. The 5-foot-6 righty’s strike ball was yielded impressive results as the Golden Bears went 4-1 against fellow NCAA programs. Bower cashed in on 60 percent (24-of-40) of her strike attempts and was particularly "locked in" against Sacred Heart. She threw seven straight strikes in the match, leading the team to a key win in the "positioning round." In the words of Kutztown’s head coach Joe Ambrose, "Brooke was terrific this weekend on a what was very, very difficult pattern."
