Bryant won all four games on the first half of its swing through the state of Ohio, and Gavitt’s run production was a key reason why.  In three starts, the junior went 5-for-11 (.454) at the plate with six runs batted in and four runs scored.  He also hit his first home run of the season and drew three walks during the four-game span.  Gavitt victimized Wright State’s pitching staff, going 4-for-7 with three walks and five RBI over the course of two shutout victories.   Catching and batting fifth during the road trip’s opener on Friday, Gavitt singled to lead off the fifth inning of what was a scoreless game at the time. He eventually came around to plate the game’s first run on Adam Claire’s double and the catcher’s RBI single bumped Bryant’s lead to 3-0 one inning later. Seeing Wright State for a second time following back-to-back games with Dayton, Gavitt drove in runs during three of his plate appearances.  His RBI single capped Bryant’s three-run first inning, his two-run bomb cleared the fences in the seventh inning and his bases-loaded walk tacked on another run in the ninth.  Gavitt did not start the second contest of the four-game weekend, but came on as a defensive replacement in the 11th inning against Dayton.  The 6-foot-4 backstop gave the signs as Sal Lisanti struck out the side to nail down a 3-2 extra-inning win over the A-10 member.  Gavitt was responsible for two runs in the Bulldogs’ second contest against Dayton, a 3-1 triumph.  He led off the sixth inning with a single to shortstop and came around to score the go-ahead run four batters later.  His ninth-inning sac fly gave Bryant’s bullpen some breathing room.
