Mount St. Mary’s first baseman is “nott” off to a bad start five games into his senior season. Having already tripled his entire home run output from one season ago, Nott owns a .467 batting average with three long balls and 10 RBI. He drove in at least one run during each of the Mount’s first five contests, three of which came at home against Iona. Helping the Mountaineers win two of three games played against the MAAC member, Nott hit .556 with a pair of home runs and six RBI. In the series opener, a 10-7 win for the Mount, Nott connected on a third-inning run scoring single. The veteran first baseman broke out his big stick for the series finale. Belting two-run home runs in each of his first two at-bats, Nott helped stake his team to an 8-2 second-inning lead in an eventual 10-5 triumph. Following the season-opening set with Iona, the Mount played a pair against Ohio State and Nott recorded one hit, one walk and two RBI in each contest. His two-run single to centerfield broke up the Buckeyes’ shutout bid on Feb. 23. The following day, Nott opened the game’s scoring by blasting a two-run first-inning homer.
