Spanou has carried the injury-plagued Colonials back into the Northeast Conference playoff race. Spearheading the two-win weekend that allowed Robert Morris to even up its NEC record at 6-6, the 6-foot-2 Spanou averaged a monster double-double of 25.0 points and 16.5 rebounds per contest. Doing it all in wins over Wagner and Saint Francis (PA), Spanou averaged 3.5 steals, 3.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per contest. Spanou reached the 30-point mark for the second time this season, and the first in conference play, when she poured in 32 points to go along with 18 rebounds during a 57-39 win over Wagner. Two days later, she helped the Colonials even the season series with Keystone State rival Saint Francis (PA). Recording a double-double for the 18th consecutive outing, Spanou tallied 18 points and 15 rebounds. Spanou drew a lot of contact, often working her way to the free throw line last week. Taking advantage of the numerous opportunities, she shot 84 percent (21-for-25) from the charity stripe. The Greek-born Spanou, who was recently a finalist for the FIBA Europe Young Women’s Player of the Year award, continues to pace all of NCAA Division I in rebounding (15.0 rpg).
