McEwan was back to her usual routine at the Delaware State Capital City Classic, filling over 90 percent of her frames and averaging well over 20 pins per frame. Spearheading the Knights’ second-place finish at the 28-team tournament, FDU’s anchor bowler left only nine opens in 128 frames bowled. She struck 118 times in 186 opportunities, yielding a team-high .634 strike percentage. The two-time Team USA Trials champion was unmatched during the traditional team play portion of the Capital City Classic. McEwan posted a 240.6 traditional game average to top the entire field at an event that tied the Kutztown Invitational for the nation’s largest. The senior’s hot hand helped the Knights to a 4-1 record in traditional matches with their lone loss coming to NEC rival Adelphi. Over the course of FDU’s eight baker matches, McEwan averaged 22.19 pins per frame. The Knights’ lone losses during baker play came at the hands of familiar rival No. 2 Maryland-Eastern Shore, which defeated FDU in the 2012 NCAA Championship Final. McEwan’s 22.92 overall frame average was the highest mark of any NEC bowler contesting the event.
