Fairleigh Dickinson worked its way into first place in the conference standings this past weekend, and Fischer’s performance at the NEC Winter Meet was a key culprit in the Knights’ jump over Kutztown. The 5-foot-1 freshman was one of two FDU bowlers to average more than 20 pins per frame at the two-day competition that consisted solely of baker play. Helping the Knights win seven of their nine quint-baker matches, Fischer posted a 20.58 frame average over an 85-frame sample. No other NEC rookie accounted for a better mark than Fischer while competing at what was the second of three regular conference season meets on the schedule. Helping FDU inch closer to what would be a third consecutive Northeast Conference regular season championship, Fischer posted an .835 filled frames average while going up against a tournament field that featured eight NTCA Top 20 teams. No FDU bowler, not even senior anchor Danielle McEwan, the 2013 Team USA Trials champion, managed a higher strike percentage than Fischer (.494). The rookie southpaw struck 42 times in 85 chances.
