Savoy appears to be peaking right in time for his NEC Indoor Championship debut. The rookie sprinter produced his fastest 60m dash time yet while competing amongst a stacked 53-entrant field at the NYC Armory Collegiate Invitational, his final tuneup before the NEC Championships commence on February 9-10. Savoy, who ran a 6.94 at the NYC Gotham Cup in early January, crossed the line in 6.91s this past weekend. Beating out competitors from Kansas, Syracuse and Rutgers, the first-year Knight won his heat while moving up into fourth place on the NEC performance list in the process. He is one of eight NEC sprinters to have already earned automatic entry into the 60m field at IC4A Championships, which are set for March 1-3 in Boston.
