Stubblefield reaffirmed his status as the pre-meet favorite to capture the NEC Indoor triple jump crown. In his final performance before contesting the 2013 NEC Indoor Championships, Stubblefield improved his league-leading seed mark while going up against a first-class triple jump field at NYC Armory Collegiate Invitational. The veteran Blackbird triple jumped 15.08m (49’ 5.75”) to edge out Clemson’s Shai Carpenter for fifth place in the meet’s “Championship Division.” Mississippi State’s Jason Harper (15.83m) won the event. Stubblefield, who was the runner-up in the triple jump at both the NEC Indoor & Outdoor Championships last year, added four centimeters to the previous seasonal best (15.04m) he produced at the UAlbany Great Dane Classic on Jan. 18.
