Fechko did not want to let go of the Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week award she first acquired back on January 22. The freshman guard averaged a double-double over the Terriers’ two-game road swing, which included the annual “Battle of Brooklyn.” Shooting 54.5 percent from the floor, Fechko accounted for 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest. After posting a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds in a tough loss at Central Connecticut, Fechko was even better against cross-boro rival LIU. The 5-foot-8 Ohioan erupted for a career-high 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Terrier’s 69-58 wire-to-wire win over the Blackbirds. Fechko sank 7 of her 10 field goal attempts on the way to becoming the first freshman in more than a decade to win the “Battle of Brooklyn” MVP award.
