With his LIU teammate taking gold on both occasions, Stubblefield logged runner-up finishes at the conference’s indoor and outdoor championships last year. The triple-jumper’s recent work, however, suggests that Stubblefield is interested in trading in that silver for some gold when the 2013 NEC Indoor Championships commence on February 9-10 in Landover, MD. Stubblefield surged to the top of the NEC leader board while competing at the UAlbany Great Dane Classic this past weekend. He triple-jumped 15.04m (49’ 4.25”) to beat out Rutgers’ Kevin Bostick and top a field of 20 entrants at the annual meet at the NYC 168th Street Armory. In addition to qualifying Stubblefield for the IC4A Championships, his latest performance ranks the Blackbird 29th in all of NCAA Division I.
