The Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week award moves from Wagner’s Jordyn Peck’s possession across the Verrazano Bridge into the hands of St. Francis Brooklyn’s Leah Fechko. The 5-foot-8 freshman made key contributions while earning a start against Fairleigh Dickinson and coming off the bench for 20 minutes against Monmouth. Fechko averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per contest as the Terriers went 1-1 against the NEC’s Garden State contingent. The native Ohioan shot an even 50 percent from the field and connected at 83.3 percent from the charity stripe. She scored 13 points, grabbed six boards and dished out three assists in a 64-56 victory over FDU. Two days after helping the Terriers match last year’s NEC win total (3), Fechko scored nine points and corraled four rebounds in a reserve role against Monmouth. Cleaning up the offensive glass, she hit a lay-up that brought St. Francis within 65-61 with 00:10 remaining, but her team would come up short.
