Jeffrey became the first NEC weight thrower to exceed 18.00 meters this season. The league leader in both the shot put and 32 lb. weight throw won both throwing events at the Army Multi-Team Meet last week. While picking up a pair of gold medals, Jeffrey extended his NEC lead over Robert Morris’ Stephen Mitchell in the weight throw. Replacing Mitchell as the NEC Field Athlete of the Week, the Monmouth Hawk produced a first-place fling of 18.20m (59’ 8.5”). Not only does Jeffrey’s new seasonal best stand two feet better than Mitchell’s top mark, but it is a significant improvement over the 17.73m mark that landed him in second at the 2012 NEC Indoor Championships last February.
