Hatfield bounced back from an uncharacteristic showing on the opening day of the SHSU Kat Klash and led LIU Brooklyn to an historic showing at the three-day event.  Hatfield averaged only 17.5 pins per frame during Friday’s quad baker matches, but wound up with a 20.61 frame average at the conclusion of the play on Sunday.  Her performance during the traditional play portion of the meet helped the Blackbirds  achieve an historical first for the program as they posted three victories over NTCA Top 10 programs in the same day. Hatfield posted a 216.2 traditional game average over the course of Saturday’s five team matches, a string that featured victories over No. 2 Arkansas State, No. 5 Nebraska and No. 9 Valparaiso.  After leaving only four open frames during traditional team play, Hatfield was equally as impressive during Sunday’s best-of-seven championship baker matches.  With LIU again facing Arkansas State, Valpo and Nebraska, the veteran righty accounted for 21.8 pins per frame and an .884 filled frames percentage.  Over the entire course of the tournament, which saw the Blackbirds contest 13 matches, Hatfield threw 72 strikes in 139 attempts while filling 87.1 percent of frames bowled.
