If McEwan is looking to top last season’s total of seven NEC Bowler of the Week awards, then she is off to the right start. Fairleigh Dickinson’s All-American anchor bowler topped the entire field at the NEC Fall Meet. Helping FDU to a 6-3 record at the first of three NEC regular season meets, McEwan averaged a league-best 23.24 pins per frame. Her .680 strike percentage was a key reason why she was able to post the best individual game average (232.4) amongst a group that also included 2012 NTCA All-Americans Jackie Carbonetto, Nicole Trudell and Christina Leid (Honorable Mention). McEwan filled 92.2 percent of the frames she bowled during the two-day event, which consisted solely of traditional team matches. The reigning NEC Bowler of the Year produced nothing under a 208-pin performance the entire weekend. She exceeded the 230-pin mark in five of the Knights’ nine traditional matches including a weekend-high 280 game. One match after her 247-pin effort and clutch 10th frame helped the Knights edge No. 13 New Jersey City, McEwan was near perfect in a tight match against meet host Kutztown. After sparing the second frame, she threw 10 consecutive strikes to finish with a 280 in the 20-pin setback.
