Dieudonne’s play at cornerback helped preserve the Seahawks’ shutout of NEC preseason favorite Albany in what was an Empire State battle for first place. The second-year Seahawk made four tackles, including 2.0 TFL, and also recorded three pass break-ups in Wagner’s 30-0 road win over the NEC’s top-ranked team in terms of scoring offense. Spearheading a pass defense that limited Albany to a season-low 103 yards through the air, Dieudonne made two tackles in third-down situations and stopped the opponent short of the sticks on both occasions. Dieudonne’s first impactful play came during the opening minutes of the second quarter with Albany looking to cut into Wagner’s 14-0 advantage. UA quarterback Will Fiacchi completed a pass to Nick Hutcherson on a 3rd-and-7 play from Wagner’s 12-yard line, but Dieudonne immediately dropped the receiver to the turf one yard shy of the first-down marker. With Albany nearing midfield later on in the second quarter, Dieudonne derailed another Great Danes’ drive by sacking Fiacchi for a three-yard loss on a 3rd-and-2 play. The sophomore cornerback’s other two tackles came during first-down situations and both limited the ball carrier to four-yard gains. With Albany making a last-ditch effort to avoid suffering the first shutout in NEC play since Oct. 29, 2011 when, coincidentally, the Great Danes blanked Wagner, 24-0, Dieudonne delivered a pass break-up and a tackle on the final possession of the game.
