Bell has been brilliant thus far in his second season with Duquesne after transferring from Ohio State and enjoyed his best day yet in a NEC road win over Bryant. The 6-foot-1 linebacker made a career-high 14 tackles, ten of which were of the solo variety, and his touchdown-saving play swung the momentum in Duquesne’s favor early on in the fourth quarter of an eventual 35-21 win. Bell, who was credited with 1.5 hits for a loss, stopped the Bryant ball carrier before gaining more than one yard on six occasions during the contest. Bell’s biggest hit came with Bryant facing a 1st-and-Goal situation and holding a 21-17 lead. With Bryant looking to extend its lead by handing off to Preseason All-American Jordan Brown, Bell stepped up and stripped Brown of the football. Duquesne’s junior linebacker then fell on the ball that he initially jarred loose. The Dukes reeled off 18 unanswered points following Bell’s forced fumble and subsequent recovery.
