The reigning NEC Offensive Player of the Year sparked Rider to two road wins this past week and quadrupled her season’s goal total in the process. Penas, who had one goal over the season’s first four games, totaled three tallies in two games last week. The 5-foot-6 forward wasted little time in setting the tone for Rider’s match against Ivy League member Penn, which entered the game with a 3-1 record. Penas used a pair of unassisted goals to stake the Broncs to a 2-0 before 13 minutes had even run off the clock. She opened the scoring in the 3rd minute of the eventual 3-0 triumph. With Rider back in Philadelphia for a match against LaSalle three days later, Penas rattled the cage again. Her tally in the 31st minute lifted the Broncs to a 2-0 lead in a game they eventually won in overtime.
