Copley began his collegiate career with a fifth place overall finish out of 63 competitors in a time of 19:49.87 at the Stony Brook Invitational 6k. The 2010-11 and 2011-12 Gatorade Vermont Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year was the fastest of all freshmen competitors.
