Makea established herself as one of the NEC’s top defenders as a freshman, but finds herself tied for the league lead in points following the first weekend of her sophomore campaign. Coming off an all-NEC first team selection at back in 2011, Makea helped Saint Francis (PA) secure its first-ever 2-0 season start in program history. Playing in the midfield, the sophomore tallied six points, on two goals and two assists, during victories over Longwood and Lock Haven. Makea recorded a pair of assists in the season-opening 3-1 triumph over former NEC member Lock Haven, which had never before lost to the Flash. Makea fed Autumn Pellman off a penalty corner and watched her teammate break a 1-1 tie with eventual game-winner in the 41st minute. Helping the Flash post another 3-1 victory one day later against Longwood, Makea opened the game’s scoring in the 24 minute before breaking a 1-1 deadlock in the 33rd minute.
