Saunders has wrestled the NEC Women’s Rookie of the Week award away from Robert Morris where it resided for the season’s first two weeks. The first-year Blue Devil opened her outdoor campaign by high jumping her way to the top of the Northeast Conference. Saunders cleared 1.72m (5’ 7.75”) at the North Florida Invitational. The height, which makes her a viable contender for the conference crown, is one centimeter shy of the NEC Outdoor Championship meet record.
