Smith set a personal best in the hammer throw that propelled the veteran Pioneer into the NCAA East Region Top 10. The defending NEC champion won the Rider Invite with a fling of 60.12m (197’ 3”), a mark that stands nearly 1.5 meters better than the meet record she set at the 2011 NEC Outdoor Championships. Smith, who already led the NEC prior to her latest performance, ranks sixth in the NCAA East Region and 20th nationally.
