Gibilisco appears more than ready to defend his 800m title when the 2012 NEC Outdoor Championships come to Emmitsburg, MD during the first week of May. Should he repeat the performance he put forth at this past weekend’s Patriot Open, then the veteran Mountaineer would become the conference record holder. Gibilisco completed the 800m run in a seasonal-best 1:50.59 at the Patriot Open and overtook Monmouth’s Palmer Ford for the NEC event lead in the process. Gibilisco’s latest time stands 0.29 second better than meet record FDU’s James Bare turned in at the 2000 NEC Outdoor Championships.
