Lane broke the 17-minute barrier to reclaim the Northeast Conference lead in the 5,000-meter run. Becoming the first NEC distance runner to post a sub-17:00 time since Quinnipiac’s Kaitlyn Gwyther, who set the NEC Outdoor Championship meet record in 2006, Lane crossed the line in 16:57.01 at Princeton’s Larry Ellis Memorial Invitational. The time stood 15th amongst a stacked field of 98 competitors at Princeton and makes Lane the league leader by more than 11 seconds. The second-year Pioneer’s performance, which is a SHU program record, came one week after Monmouth’s Jennifer Nelson temporarily surpassed Lane on the NEC performance list.
